In this collection, the artwork serves as a visual record of movement: the artists' gestures are captured by the playful, cartographic composition of hundreds of minute plaster grooves. "Combed Plaster" is complemented by a singular abstract floral panorama. In this wallcovering, 18th-century floral motifs, originally appearing in the finest hand-loomed silk, are scaled up and painstakingly recreated by hand in several painted iterations.
We are the vision of principal fine artist Yolande Milan Batteau, who brings decades of aesthetic and decorative skills to the studio through her career as an interdisciplinary fine artist. Batteau has honed her knowledge and physical mastery of a superfluity of materials and methods over the last 30 years, drawing inspiration from natural phenomena and artistic anthropologies alike.
