Racines lays the foundations for a new textile model

This fertile dialogue between artistic vision and applied research gave rise to a collection of textures, patterns, and colors inspired by the landscapes and history of the Arles region — between the Camargue, Crau, and Alpilles. Each formal choice is guided by the mechanical and sensory properties of the materials, in resonance with their potential applications.

As an international creative campus, LUMA Arles aims to be a place of research, production, and innovation, dedicated to artists and creators from all backgrounds. Within this ecosystem, Atelier LUMA uses design to explore the potential of natural resources and local know-how, inventing new ways of creating, producing, and transmitting at the scale of a territory. Its textile lab focuses on new paradigms of textile production — from fiber to finishing — and develops textile qualities that highlight both fiber and color.

The research into color resources and their implementation processes gives the collection a distinctive aesthetic dimension. By working with natural dyes sourced from the local territory, LUMA and Élitis have jointly developed a sensitive and nuanced palette, revealing the full expressive richness of the materials. This approach lends the textiles a vibrant, organic visual quality that enhances their appeal while expressing a deep connection to the land.
